Life...a fraud?

Life sometimes feels like a fraud; a big lie; a huge betrayal.  We humans find ourselves superior to other species on this planet because of our intelligence and our ability to think, invent, build, conquer, etc. We fool ourselves by thinking that we are better than all the other beings who share this planet and its vast natural resources with us. We are proud of ourselves for being the masters of Earth; to have found ways to exploit animals and nature to our advantage and to continuously invent new ways of withstanding the forces of nature to survive its wrath with the least degree of casualty and damage.

We tell ourselves that we have to work hard, dream, and march forward with a straight back and head held high to reach happiness and fulfillment. From an early age, we are programmed to learn, and learn and learn, so someday we are able to live in a bigger house, drive a nicer car, have more disposable income, take more exotic vacations, etc.  But, this is all a lie!  I believe we humans behave this way and busy ourselves with all these unimportant endeavors and meaningless material objects in order to keep our intelligent brain from telling us that this entire struggle is in vain. At the end, no matter how glamorous our lives are or how fully our closets are stocked up with valuable objects, we will still be put in a small box (in some cultures even a box is not provided) and hidden away in a deep hole in the ground to slowly turn into dust, or be turned into dust quickly through cremation. When we leave, we take nothing with us, just as when we are born, we bring nothing with us.

Maybe in my next life, I would be better off as anything but a human. Maybe I would enjoy life more when there is not much intelligence in my brain to analyze everything, and when instincts rule, and the only rule to adhere to is the rule of the jungle or survival of the fittest.

I feel being a human is really way overrated!
