It is hard to find a parent in worst emotional circumstances than ours; but an article in the news today reminded me of the unthinkable: to lose your child to suicide AFTER he had taken many innocent lives before taking his own.
Sue Klebold, the mother of Dylan Klebold, one of the two Columbine high school mass murderers, has finally broken her silence and talked to Diane Sawyer. How I feel for this poor woman! She not only lost her son seventeen years ago but she also had to deal with the horrendous consequences of his son's actions, constantly thinking of all the other lives which were shortened in a blink of an eye in the hands of her offspring. She thought of herself as a good mother and could not explain where she had gone wrong. Unfortunate woman! I can feel and understand her guilt but hers is compounded by the loss of thirteen other souls. How horrific! I understand how she blames herself for the actions of her 17-year-old son. I completely sympathize with her and the constant daily agony she has been living with for almost two decades. Unfortunately, there is no escaping the feeling of guilt. I wish I could help her in some way but I know there is no remedy for this type of ailment. Death will be her only refuge. Poor wretched soul....
This suffering woman is unluckier than I am, due to the hateful and violent actions of her son.Her hijacked fate was the instant immersion in the lowest depths of hell all those years ago through her son's actions and remaining there ever since. That just makes me very sad for her ongoing pain and suffering. May she reach some level of peace soon.
